During the summer of 2003, a group of talented artists gathered to begin a journey of discovery and exploration into the life and travels of Vincent van Gogh.

While "Following the footstep of Vincent Van Gogh", they met some interesting people and where inspired by varying landscapes as well as each other. The differences in scenery, subject matter, cultures and personalities truly enabled the artists to produce a collection of the unique and wonderful work as a result of this memorable Artist's Expedition.

The Artist Tours Group, our Sponsors and Supporters are proud to have been able to make such an experience possible and look forward to continue in the "Tradition of Discovery" that help to give birth to the "Impressionist".

In response to the request received, an encore 2004 "Following the Footsteps of Vincent van Gogh" -Artist Expedition to Holland, Belgium & France will take place on June 21-July 11, 2004. Furthermore, a new Artist Expedition to Tahiti & French Polynesia, entitled "Following the Journey of Gauguin" will also be departing in 2004. Vincent van Gogh lived for a year in Amsterdam from March 1877 onwards to prepare his Theology studies. Whilst there, he visited churches and museums and payed visits to family and friends. Nineteenth century Amsterdam comes to life in his letters to his brother Theo. Much of what Vincent saw still exists nowadays.

The exhibition is based on quotes from van Gogh's letters which refer to the various places in the city visited by Vincent. The Amsterdamer Reindert Groot, a photographer and producer, walked in Vincent's footsteps and in so doing managed to connect van Gogh's perspective with the Amsterdam of today.

The quotes and the photographs of Reindert Groot, together with a number of historical documents, will be exhibited in Our Lord in the Attic , a seventeenth century hidden church in the heart of the old city, from July 12th until October 12th.
During the period of the exhibition the museum will be open until 7.00 p.m.
