Elements of Fine Art

Fine art is one of the branches of artists whose work can be enjoyed with the senses of sight and touch. Until now, works of art are still in great demand because the results are like real objects.

Like other works of art, works of art also have elements that make them up. The elements of art generally consist of physical and non-physical elements.

Elements of Fine Arts

The point is the most basic elements of fine art. It is the basis of art here because dots can give birth to the form of ideas/ideas and then create a line, shape, and plane.

In addition, there is also a famous painting technique using a combination of dot color and size called the Pointillism technique.

A line is a collection of points formed by scratching or pulling from one point to another. By definition, a line is a stroke or limit of an object, space, field, color, texture, and others.

Lines are also a fundamental and important physical element in the creation of works of art. Lines form elongated dimensions and have specific directions and properties such as long, short, vertical, horizontal, straight, curved, wavy, and many more.

As is known, the plane has a flat surface and is a two-dimensional object. The plane is divided into two planes, namely geometric (square, triangle, and so on) and organic plane (free curve).

In addition, the field has varied properties according to its shape. In the basic elements of fine art, there are basic fields, namely quadrilaterals, triangles, circles, trapezoids, and so on.

The combination of the elements of the field will create a shape. The shape can also be called a complex element because it has three dimensions, namely length, width, and height which are combined into one to form a volume or content.

In general, forms are divided into two, namely regular forms and irregular forms.

Every form must have space. This is what makes space a basic element of art that must exist.

In space, the illusion can be created with lines and fields, then combined with colors that can create the illusion of light such as perspective and contrasting dark and light.

Color is the most dominant element in a work of art. Then, color is the reflection of light on objects that have certain pigments.

Colors are grouped into primary colors, secondary colors, tertiary colors, analogous, and complementary. Color is one of the most important basic elements of art.

The texture is a property of an object. These properties can seem rough, smooth, shiny, slippery, and so on.

So, the texture is the condition of an object’s surface which is usually tested using the sense of touch.

Texture serves to give a certain character to the surface area that can give rise to aesthetic values.

Dark Light

The last basic element of art is light and dark. Darkness arises because of the difference in the intensity of light that falls on the surface of an object.

By giving the basic elements of dark and light art, it gives a deep impression or contrast to a work of art.

Light and dark techniques are divided into two, namely chiaroscuro which is a gradual transition or gradation, and silhouette, namely shadows without gradual transitions or gradations.
